In Race Across Europe In A Series 5, four electric wheelchair users go head-to-head in a high-stakes race from St Pancras to Turin. Armed with Series 5 powered wheelchairs, they cross 18 cities in 10 countries in just five days, facing Taskmaster-style challenges for a shot at €1000.
The show was created by Alex Papanikolaou, powerchair user and founder of Freedom One Life who design and manufacture the Series 5 - a powerchair shaped by real-world use.
Alex is also a seasoned traveller, and along the way meets wheelchair users who have been put off travelling altogether. Go online and you’ll easily come across horror stories about how hard it is to get around in a chair.
Alex was determined to show how travel can be accessible. Equipped with a powered wheelchair, a trip that’s usually stressful becomes an exciting challenge.
The four incredible people that took part in the competition each bring something unique to the show, and it's a true joy to see how they gain confidence and discover new horizons as the days of the competition progress.
In this 30 minute documentary, we show that with the right gear, planning, and support, accessible travel isn’t just fun - It’s a full-blown adventure.
